Who We Equip and Prepare:
Down But Not Out is dedicated to serving all who have suffered as a result of poor choices or bad actions, however, we focus primarily on the incarcerated. We believe there is hope and freedom for our adult and juvenile offenders, ex-offenders and at-risk youth! These individuals have lost their freedoms but our new perspective of freedom allows them to overcome personal challenges, rebuild character, develop self worth, grow spiritually, and most importantly become productive citizens of our community. These individuals, regardless of their previous choices or actions, now have the freedom to focus on themselves!
What We Teach:
We teach our incarcerated friends, although contained and controlled, that they have the freedom to focus on themselves. Our lessons and labor of love include teaching them accountability, character and faith building techniques, goals setting, and most importantly growing their faith. We know they are down but not out – we help restore their sense of belonging, their understanding of family, community, and God! We wholeheartedly believe Jeremiah 29: 11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. We pray over and develop deliberate programs designed to give “hope and a future” to those who are incarcerated. There is freedom, hope and a future by overcoming challenges, building character, holding yourself accountable and bending your knee to God.
